Job Summary The Pilot Driver is responsible for supporting the safe and efficient transport of wide-load fiberglass swimming pools from production facilities to customer delivery sites. The role assists with loading and unloading activities, escorts oversized loads to designated destinations, ensures compliance with provincial escort permit requirements, and works closely with the AZ Driver to identify and communicate traffic conditions, hazards, and route obstacles. During periods of reduced delivery activity, the Pilot Driver supports production, detailing, maintenance, and yard operations. Responsibilities Transportation & Delivery Escort over-dimensional loads in accordance with provincial escort regulations and permit requirements. Operate a pilot vehicle equipped with required warning devices, lights, and signage. Communicate with the AZ Driver regarding traffic flow, road conditions, hazards, lane restrictions, construction zones, narrow bridges, low-hanging obstacles, pedestrians, and load security concerns. Read, understand, and comply with all provincial permits and escort requirements. Assist with loading and unloading fiberglass pools and related materials. Properly secure and tie down loads in accordance with company and transportation safety standards. Maintain a clean, professional, and presentable pilot vehicle. Successfully complete annual defensive driving training and maintain required escort certifications. Adhere to all company, DOT, provincial, and transportation safety regulations. Production & Facility Support Detail, polish, clean, and prepare pools for shipment. Assist with outfitting pools and ensuring delivery readiness. Operate pressure washers, electric polishers, caulking guns, and other tools as required. Support crane, yard, and staging operations by moving pools through the production process. Assist with facility maintenance and housekeeping activities. During slower delivery periods, work within production departments and perform manufacturing-related duties as assigned. Participate in minor pool repairs and finishing activities, both at the facility and occasionally at customer delivery sites. Qualifications Valid Ontario Class G driver's license or higher with a clean driving record. Minimum 3 years of driving experience. Ability to provide a current driver's abstract. Ability to operate a standard transmission vehicle. Valid pilot/escort driver certifications where required, or willingness to obtain them. Strong understanding of cargo securement, pre-trip inspections, and the Highway Traffic Act (considered an asset). Excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to read maps, GPS systems, escort permits, blueprints, and route plans. Comfortable using smartphones, GPS devices, and communication equipment. Mechanically inclined with experience using hand and power tools. Ability to travel extensively, including overnight and multi-day trips. Flexible and adaptable to changing work priorities throughout the season. Experience detailing boats, automobiles, RVs, or similar products is considered an asset. Why Work With Us?
