The Position We are currently looking for a Maintenance Supervisor to join our Operations Team. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible to lead 8 - 10 unionized Maintenance staff to continually assess equipment and services to ensure the plant operates safely and efficiently. The successful candidate will be comfortable analyzing current processes and systems to highlight areas for improvement ensuring necessary utilities are working optimally. They must also possess strong organizational skills to keep track of multiple projects at once. Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 6:30 am - 3:30 pm (hours may vary based on business needs, applicant must be willing to work overtime, including weekends as required) Education Post-Secondary Diploma/Degree – Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) 433A or industrial electrician 442A Health & Safety Awareness and WHIMIS Training First Aid/CPR Training All licenses and certifications must be in good standing AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (preferred) Experience Minimum 5 years’ experience in an industrial manufacturing environment, preferably from a corrugated, packaging, textile or paper industry Minimum 2 years supervisory experience including scheduling work assignments in a unionized environment 1-2 years working in an order-based manufacturing environment Qualification/ Competencies: Ability to coordinate a high level of activity under a variety of conditions and constraints Ability to work under pressure Ability to read precision measurement equipment Ability to effectively manage projects and complete them in a timely and cost-effective manner Demonstrate professionalism and maintain composure under pressure in a constantly changing environment Able and competent in root cause failure analysis, leadership and investigations Excellent attendance record Act as coach and mentor to the team Able to communicate effectively with others Excellent organizational, time management, problem solving and conflict resolution skills Ability to work independently or with supervision Possesses a positive attitude and works well as a member of a team Ability to motivate staff to achieve the overall goals and objectives of the company including occupational health and safety, quality, service and productivity goals Familiarity with computerized work order inventory and PM systems Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Office and PowerPoint) Work Environment/Health & Safety: Uses and promotes personal protective equipment or clothing required to perform the job tasks safely Reports unsafe or hazardous situations or work practices in a timely manner Implements and complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Act or applicable regulations Responsible to proactively and effectively resolve issues in a timely manner Takes the initiative to improve the workplace General/Daily Duties Working hands-on, lead and support the Maintenance team to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain all equipment Support the Maintenance Manager to establis Benefits Dental care Disability insurance Extended health care RRSP match Vision care Flexible language requirement: French not required Ability to commute/relocate: Barrie, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
