We’re looking for a Crane/Utility Mechanic to join the Commercial team to inspect, diagnose, maintain, repair, and install utility equipment, service bodies, cranes, hoists, hydraulic systems, and related components mounted on commercial vehicles. The successful candidate will have a combination of education and experience to confidently repair electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment, aerial devices, cranes, plows, lights, and more. This broad scope of work involves limited repetitive tasks and requires active thinking and a strong base of knowledge. Responsibilities Inspection, Maintenance & Repair Diagnose and repair truck-mounted cranes, service bodies, utility equipment, and hydraulic systems. Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled inspections on cranes and utility equipment. Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems. Inspect equipment to ensure compliance with applicable safety standards and manufacturer specifications. Complete repairs on hydraulic cylinders, pumps, valves, winches, outriggers, and lifting systems. Perform structural repairs and modifications to truck-mounted equipment as required. Installation & Fabrication Install truck-mounted cranes, service bodies, toolboxes, air compressors, generators, and related equipment. Perform electrical wiring and control system installations. Fabricate and modify brackets, mounts, and structural components as required. Read and interpret mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical schematics. Testing & Quality Assurance Conduct operational testing and inspections following repairs and installations. Verify proper function of all safety devices and load-handling systems. Ensure all work meets company quality standards and manufacturer requirements. Maintain detailed service records and documentation. Safety & Compliance Follow all company health and safety policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with provincial and federal regulations governing crane and utility equipment operation. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Properly use and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE). Participate in safety training and toolbox meetings. Customer Service Communicate effectively with customers regarding equipment concerns, repair recommendations, and maintenance requirements. Provide technical support and operational guidance as required. Represent the company professionally at customer sites and in the field. Qualifications Required 3+ years of experience servicing commercial vehicles, cranes, utility equipment, or heavy equipment. Strong knowledge of hydraulics, electrical systems, and mechanical repair. Experience Valid Class G driver’s licence. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding work. Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Preferred DZ driver’s licence. 310T Truck and Coach Technician licence. Welding and fabrication experience. Working at Heights certification. Working Conditions Shop and field service environment. Exposure to varying weather conditions when working onsite. Frequent standing, bending, climbing, lifting, and use of hand and power tools. Occasional overtime and travel may be required to support customer needs. Performance Expectations Complete repairs efficiently and accurately. Maintain high safety standards. Experience
