We are seeking a skilled and motivated Crane/Utility Field Service Technician to join our team. In this role, you will travel to customer locations to diagnose, repair, maintain, and inspect a wide range of specialized equipment and vehicles. The successful candidate will possess a strong mechanical aptitude and a combination of training and hands-on experience that enables them to confidently troubleshoot and repair electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, as well as aerial devices, cranes, lighting systems, and other truck-mounted equipment. This position offers a broad scope of work with minimal repetitive tasks, making it ideal for individuals who enjoy problem-solving, continuous learning, and taking on new challenges every day. Responsibilities Preventive Maintenance Perform scheduled maintenance on heavy trucks, utility vehicles, and vocational equipment. Conduct inspections of hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, mechanical, and safety systems. Complete fluid changes, filter replacements, lubrication services, and adjustments. Identify potential failures and recommend corrective action. Diagnostics and Repairs Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic faults. Repair and replace defective components on trucks and mounted equipment. Conduct diagnostics using OEM software and diagnostic tools. Perform emergency roadside and field repairs as required. Test equipment and verify proper operation following repairs. Utility Equipment Service Service and repair hydraulic systems, cranes, aerial devices, service bodies, dump bodies, liftgates, PTO and pump systems, and electrical control systems. Customer Service Communicate repair findings and recommendations to customers. Provide technical support and operating guidance when required. Maintain a professional appearance and represent the company positively at customer locations. Respond to service calls in a timely manner and provide accurate service updates. Documentation and Reporting Complete work orders accurately and thoroughly. Record labour hours, parts used, and repair details. Submit inspection reports and service documentation promptly. Maintain service records in accordance with company procedures. Safety and Compliance Follow all company safety policies and procedures. Comply with Ministry of Transportation (MTO), Occupational Health & Safety, and environmental regulations. Perform work in compliance with OEM and industry standards. Maintain a clean and organized service vehicle. Ensure all tools and equipment are inspected and maintained. Parts and Inventory Management Maintain inventory levels in the service vehicle. Identify required parts and materials for scheduled repairs. Return warranty and core components as required. Assist with inventory counts and parts tracking. Qualifications Required 310T Truck and Coach Technician licence or equivalent experience. Valid G-Class driver’s licence with a clean driving record. Strong knowledge of heavy truck and vocational equipment repair. Ability to read electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical schematics. Experience Preferred D/Z or A/Z driver’s licence. Hydraulic and electrical troubleshooting certification. Welding and fabrication experience. CUFF certification. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Frequent standing, bending, climbing, and working in confined spaces. Ability to travel to customer locations throughout the service territory. Key Performance Indicators Technician utilization and productivity. First-time repair completion rate. Customer satisfaction. Warranty claim accuracy. Safety compliance and incident-free performance. Experience
